You would be forgiven for describing the feeling at Chevin as ‘Alpine’. The main building is the biggest log cabin in the UK, and along with the lodges, was built using Swedish logs (a wealthy Scottish family built the hotel in 1983 after seeing a similar style in Sweden).
There are 18 modern bedrooms within the hotel and 31 bedrooms within the eight lodges, including three self-catering lodges. The log cabins all blend into the surrounding countryside thanks to their attractive grass roofs – all of which are ecologically friendly as the turf provides natural insulation.
With the main building set centrally amongst the lodges, guests can enjoy all the benefits of a spa hotel, while appreciating the serenity of the nature around. For those who like the freedom of self-catering holidays in the UK, yet also fancy strolling home after a crackin’ steak and bottle of Rioja, the lodges can be used simply as a hotel room, or a home from home. Great for when you want to get away for a family weekend break, or retreat and relax for a spa holiday in Yorkshire Dales.
